2/10/2004 Microsoft Security Vulnerability
Microsoft announced the existence of a severe security flaw that could allow an attacker to take complete control of any computer running Windows NT, 2000 or XP. Server versions of NT, 2000 and 2003 are also affected.
Action I.T. Consulting recommends that all users running the affected versions of Windows to download and install the appropriate patch immediately.
Instructions:
To download & install the patch automatically:
1. Back up your system.
2. Close all programs.
3. Open your browser and go to the following site: www.windowsupdate.com
4. Follow the instructions on that page closely.
Keep in mind that if you haven't installed any Microsoft updates in the past, you may be required to install any previously released patches before installing this patch.
To download the patch for later installation:
1. Point your browser to:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-007.asp
2. Under the "Affected Software" section, choose the patch that applies to the version of Windows you are using. Keep in mind this affects users of Windows NT, 2000, 2000 Server, Server 2003 and XP (Home and Professional versions) only.
3. Back up your system.
4. Double click on the file you selected to download in step two.
